My 1st Gen HD Fury Arcana crapped out - is there anything new?

So I have been using the HD Fury Arcana since its initial release, to link my SONOS ARC to my 4k projector.

This evening the Arcana finally "gave up the ghost" so to speak. I smelled a faint odor of electric fire and then the HDMI output no longer recognised the cable. I assume there was a short, and not easily fixed. The Arcana has lasted 5-6 years so I'm not too surprised its crapped out. 

So my question is simply this: are there better and/or cheaper alternatives out there now? I know there's an "Arcana 2" but I don't think I need that. What I am looking for is something that will do the job of splitting Atmos signal out to the ARC without setting me back £200. Back in the day the Arcana was the only game in town but its been a long time since then. I can see similar products on Amazon for significantky less money, but they look a bit dodgy. 

Are people having success with other products? Please point me in the right direction.

    Frankly, I replaced the TVs, to get full ARC processing. A tad more expensive than the 200 pounds (actually in US dollars, but retiring the two Fury Arcana type devices, one from HD Fury, one from another company but of the same functionality) has been worth it, to me. Ultimately much easier to just plug the HDMI cables directly to the TV, rather than an outboard device.

    Sure but that's not really a solution for projectors. 

    eARC communication is notoriously unstable across long hdmi cables and the projectors that are equipped to handle it are prohibitively expensive.

    Look into Orei products. They are quite a bit less than the HD Fury devices

    The main reason I am concerned is because I found the Arcana a bit fiddly and it needed quite a few firmware updates to work properly. I'm afraid these lower-end devices might not be up to task.

    I have had no issues with their HDMI splitters in the past, but can’t speak to how well the arc extractor works.

    I’ve used both the OREI and the HD Fury. I wasn’t overly pleased with either of them, but didn’t fiddle with them once I got them working. But it’s been years since they were ‘retired’ from my use, I really can’t speak to their current use. 

    There do seem to be some posts from people who have eARC or ARC projectors, as well as potential solutions for long run HDMI ARC issues in this forum, perhaps a little more research is needed. The challenge remains, in my opinion, that Sonos doesn’t currently make a great solution for projectors, so there will be certain issues that must be overcome. I wish you luck in your quest.
