When watching movies and tv, I have my Sonos setup so my two Sonos One SLs are used as surrounds. For music, I prefer to have them on full/stereo. When toggling the option in the app between ambient and full for music playback, there is no difference.

I used to have the Playbar with this setup and this feature worked perfectly. I just recently upgraded to the Arc Ultra and the Sub 4. Since resetting my system with this new setup and have the Arc Ultra, Sub 4 and 2 One SLs, this feature seems to not work any longer. Is this most likely just a glitch in the app or something? I’m about to reset my whole system again and just try to setup from scratch to see if it solves it, but was curious if anyone else ran into this same issue.

That setting is only for music, it shouldn’t have any effect when the input is the TV set, if that’s what you’re saying.

If it isn’t, and the feature isn’t working when streaming music on your Arc Ultra, before doing an unrecommended factory reset, I would recommend that you submit a system diagnostic within 10 minutes of experiencing this problem, and call Sonos Support to discuss it. Don’t post the resulting diagnostic number here, they get sensitive about GDPR.

There may be information included in the diagnostic that will help Sonos pinpoint the issue and help you find a solution.

When you speak directly to the Support staff, they have tools at their disposal that will allow them to give you advice specific to your network and Sonos system.

Thank you for the suggestion. I am indeed talking about when I’m trying to stream music. When watching movies and tv, the setup is working as intended. It’s just when I’m streaming music, I would like the playback on “full”. When toggling to full, there is no difference in audio from ambient. It’s as if the setting just isn’t working.

Thanks again and I’ll give support a shot.

If it is a ‘bug’ (I don’t have an Ultra to test with), then giving them hard data to pass off to a coder will certainly help. Once that’s done, they can decide whether it makes sense to do that factory reset (which erases error logs).

Check too that you’ve not got the “music” volume slider set to a low volume - otherwise the audio from the Arc can drown that from the Ones.
