It's been over a year, is there any discussions on when this will be supported?  The documents from the box itself says to mount inverted if x feet from ceiling, yet the Sonos ecosystem says era 300 not supported?  Is this due to the app issues or lack of focus/support for new products?

Hi @tjwilliam07

Thanks for your post!

Inverted mounting of Era 300 is supported, but TruePlay Tuning of them in this orientation is not yet supported.

Please note that we have identified an issue whereby a message erroneously shows stating that inverted mounting is not yet supported when it in fact is. It is also discussed on this thread:

I hope this helps.

Hi @tjwilliam07

I am happy to confirm that TruePlay Tuning now supports the use of inverted Era 300s in a Home Theatre setup.

I hope this helps.

This is great news! But I’m scouring the internet looking for a ceiling mount. Does Sonos have a recommendation on how to mount the 300 in this configuration?

Use the wall mount. It can hold the Era 300’s in either orientation.

Can those be used on the ceiling without the speaker falling off? Hard to explain but our room has a weird shape and ceiling would be the most optimal place.

Hi @tcurtius

The wall-mounts can be used on a wall close to the ceiling to mount Era 300s in an inverted orientation, but they are not suitable for fixing to the ceiling directly, no.

I hope this helps.

You could have a bracket made to connect from the wall mount to the ceiling.

Depending on how far you want them down you might use a pair of floor stands as a starting point to fabricate a ceiling mount too.

There is a note in the product guide:

Note: Don’t position Era 300 vertically or at a steep angle or the audio will stop.

Will this be an issue for ceiling-mounted, @Corry P?

Hi @nik9669a

Well, that would depend upon the angle at which they are mounted.

If the speakers are upside-down but level, that will be fine. I presume (I haven’t seen it written anywhere, but I think it would be strange if it were not the case) that a significant tilt out of level when inverted will produce the same error as when they are tilted and not inverted - the accelerometers will inform the speaker what angle it is at, and it will respond accordingly.

I hope this helps.
