I cannot get my Sonos Amp to play audio from Insignia Firestick TV. I wont go in to specifics regarding prior configuration as needs have changed (major difference is, I only need to transmit audio from TV to Sonos Amp) but know that the prior system worked as needed using same cables. I now have a Insignia Firestick TV connected to RCA Audio Balun connected to ~50 ft of ethernet (I dont know if CAT 5 or CAT 6 but it did work in prior set up) back to audio balun into new Sonos Amp.
Note, I can play music through speakers via the Sonos amp just fine. Which tells me the issue lies from the TV to the Sonos Amp. Again, prior wired connection worked just fine. I have tried every TV audio setting/configuration. I am considering returning audio balen (as well as a Sewell Sound Link Audio device that I tried) and will try a 50 ft HDMI but that is not preferred as that requires more drilling and labor (when I dont believe that is necessary as again, it worked on an older TV and Sonos device - I dont see how technology could have went backward).

Have you tried another audio source on the Sonos? I would certainly be skeptical about this balun and the connection / travel via HDMI long before I’d suspect the Sonos Amp, but testing is the only way to be certain. Hook up another audio source to that Amp, and see if it works or not.

Just as a note, and it’s hard to tell from your post, the source must be from the TV, and not from the Firestick.  (unless you’re using an analog output from the Firestick).

The Sonos Amp’s HDMI input is looking for an ARC signal, something not generated by the Firestick, but instead created by the TV set. The Firestick should be sending an HDMI signal to the TV set, the TV set (the CEC board / computer) then takes that audio and ‘reflects’ it via the ARC channel along the HDMI cable (different pins), which the Sonos then reads. So you can’t send the Firestick’s signal directly to the Sonos, it must be the signal from the ARC port on the TV.

Thank you. I will try another audio source. I apologize. I called it a firestick tv but it is an Insignia FireTv. No hdmi is currently connected as i only need to send audio to new Sonos amp. I tried to do hdmi arc from tv to sonos amp via a wyrestorm extender & cat 5 ethernet cable (which i carried over from prior set up). Since that didn’t work, that is when i tried to “dumb” it down using the audio balun (which worked during the brief one week period i was using the new tv and old sonos connect amp). An Audio Balun is an RCA to Stereo RCA Audio Extender Over Cat5 / Cat6 Stereo Cable. Since i am at or over the recommended hdmi “max” of 50’, it seems cat 5 is optimal in terms of quality but may not be an option.
