I have Ray and Sony TV.

The volume level keeps getting out of sync. For example, press Volume Up and TV will display, say, 40 but actual volume will be low.

The degree of syn changes if I take volume down to zero (i.e. shows zero on the screen) then taqke volume up again.

example today …
Vol Up … TV shows ~40 but volume relative low
Press Vol Down until screen shows zero … actual volume about zero at this stage
Press Vol Up … volume rapidly increases - screen shows about 24 but actual volume far higher than the “40” I had 60 seconds earlier.

Any ideas how to synchronise these?

I also have an Arc on different TV and it doesn’t have this problem.

Also … Bluetooth turned Off (found that on another post)

Does the Ray volume work as expected when using the Sonos app?

I don’t have a Ray, but from what I’ve read the TV remote has to some how be paired with the Ray.  I guess that means the volume is controlled via IR.  I wonder if the Ray volume and TV volume are being changed at the same time.  Maybe somewhere in the Sony settings the optical output can be set to “Fixed”.  Then the volume would only change on the Ray.

This is all a guess on my part as I have never had any experience with the Ray.  I do know however that with any digital source I’ve ever owned I prefer disabling the digital volume control ( Digital out fixed, full volume ).  Instead I use the analog volume on the device the digital device is connected to.

I am not sure how the Ray implements volume control but, looking at the previous paragraph the Sony TV would be the digital source and the Ray would be the device that controls the volume.  So the Sony optical ( Digital ) set to fixed should stabilize volume control because the Ray is the only device controlling the volume.

Before any settings changes on the Sony TV use the Sonos app to drop the volume on the Ray.

Anyone in this community with a Ray please correct this information if I have it all wrong.

Thanks MoPac,

Yes - Ray and TV are paired via the Sonos App.

I agree that appears Sony volume and Ray volume both being controlled by remote. This perhaps causing the problem/confusion. I will investigate whether optical out on Sony can be fixed volume (or perhaps Ray needs to be fixed and rely on the volume from Sony).

I appreciate your help - definitely a few things I can try.
