We just finished our basement and added a stone fireplace and hung our LG OLED evo 77” tv above. We are wanting to add some kind of additional sound system for watching movies. Are there any Sonos options out there that we don’t have to get a soundbar?

The Sonos Amp, either just one for just the front channels or two so the second can power surrounds.

Bookshelf or in-wall speakers work well and the Amp has the power to drive larger ones if they are reasonably efficient.

Note that you can’t drive 5.x speakers with Sonos. When you choose to use an Amp to drive ‘front’ speakers in a home theater, the ‘center’ channel is derived from the right and left speakers, and not a speaker on its own.

The question I have is...are you just wanting to have better sound than is provided by the LG or are you also wanting to experience Dolby Atmos sound with movies? If not then the answers given are perfect.

So if I purchased the (‘Home Theater Completion Set’ Sub mini + 2x Era 100) from Sonos I would also need to purchase an amp as well?

I am wanting to have better sound than what is provided by our LG tv. It is bad by any means, I just would like to have something a little better to make it feel more like a theater if that makes sense!

That was supposed to say isn’t bad by any means!

The ‘Home Theater Completion Set’ is designed to complement either a Sonos Amp, or a Sonos soundbar, to fill out the extra channels (surround and Subwoofer).

So, you need to define what is driving your Home Theater ‘front’. It could be your own speakers with a Sonos Amp, or a Sonos soundbar. The Amp provides two speaker posts for right and left, and provides a ‘faux’ / interpolated center channel, the Sonos soundbar contains all three channels in one package, having speakers for each channel.
