Hi, i’m looking for some advice on a modification to my home theatre set up. I had until recently my tv set up with a Sonos playbase and a Sub (gen 2). I was very happy with how that sounded.
I recently changed the configuration of my set up and put the tv on the wall, this has made the playbase and therefore the sub redundant. So i want to replace the playbase with a soundbar but i do not have the budget to buy an arc and think the original playbar is too chunky so was looking at a Beam or even a Ray. Would someone be able to tell me if the Ray would work fine with the Sub (gen2) i think i might have read somewher that the sub would be too powerful for the ray. If that is the case would the Beam work fine instead? Would i get away with the 1st gen Beam? Things to consider, my tv is a relatively new 55 inch LG but does not have Dolby Atmos. Many thanks in advance.
I have both the Ray and Beam and whilst both should work okay with your Sub, I would certainly choose to go with the Beam for the size of TV (55”) you have - so you’re fine with either a Gen1 or Gen2 Beam. I have included a link to the official Sonos refurbished-products webpage below too, as that perhaps may prove helpful:

Thanks Ken, very helpful.
You could also use the Sonos upgrade programme mentioned at the link below and trade-up your playbase for a discount voucher. The trade up does not mean you have to surrender/recycle your device but can continue to use it. If you sell it on however remember to let the buyer know you have used the offer.

Note though, it’s only available on new, not refurbished, products and the voucher cannot be used in conjunction with any other existing offers. It’s certainly worth exploring/considering too, I think, but it likely means getting the Beam gen2 as the gen1 is no longer sold as ‘new’ by Sonos.
Thanks again Ken.
