Glitching with amp from tv to speakers

We recently purchased Polk wired speakers for our outdoor patio setup, but when we try to play sound from the tv through the speakers, the sounds comes out glitchy and cutting out. How do we get this to stop and get sound without the glitchiness. When we play music through the speakers from our Spotify or Sonos app we do not have any issues with the sound.

The sound has been run out of the tv via HDMI and optical cable, into the house and down to the basement where it is then connected to the amp.

That length of HDMI cable should be just fine, but if it’s an older cable, you want to upgrade or test with a different cable.  Since the audio is fine from direct streaming sources, the issue is most likely with the cable or with your TV.

You are using HDMI and optical cable?  Is there a converter box somewhere in that run?  How long is the run?

If the TV and amp are within 30’ or so apart, I would just use HDMI-Arc and with a cable rated for that length and for in wall use.

We have tried both the HDMI and optical cables separately, but not together.

The HDMI cable was 10’ long and run through the siding down into basement.
