Dear Sonos Team,

I’m a long-time Sonos user and a great admirer of your ecosystem. I’d like to propose a product idea that could expand your user base and offer a seamless upgrade path for home audio enthusiasts:

A compact Sonos HDMI stick—similar in size and concept to streaming sticks like the Chromecast or Fire TV Stick—that plugs into the HDMI (or ARC/eARC) port of an AV receiver or TV and effectively turns that system into a Sonos zone.

Key features could include:

  • HDMI (Full/ARC/eARC) input for integration with AV receivers or TVs

  • Audio streaming from the Sonos app, including multi-room playback

  • Support for AirPlay 2

  • Grouping with existing Sonos speakers

  • Lossless/HiRes Audio Support as per HDMI spec

Such a device would be a game-changer for people who already own high-quality audio systems and want to integrate them easily into the Sonos ecosystem without purchasing a full Sonos Amp or Port.

Thank you for considering this suggestion. I believe this would be a welcome addition to your product lineup!

Best regards,

Jesko

Hi @jrubbel

Thank you - I've marked this thread as a feature request and it will be seen by the relevant teams for consideration. Keep the ideas coming!

Thanks a lot - that would be great. After some thinking about it, I believe the stick should use a “normal” HDMI channel to transmit audio instead of (e)ARC Ports to keep the (e)ARC port free for a TV connection. Or make it configurable at least.

Pretty sure Sonos was working on something like this, called Pinewood.

They pulled it from further development due to upper management laying a massive egg and another massive brown colored object that was a non-egg with the terrible, horrible, broken app fiasco that left Sonos teetering on the edge of going out business.

Sonos will need years to fully recover from that unneeded disaster. Absolutely hurt chances of new products in foreseeable future. The broken app is their priority project.
