Can someone tell me what exactly needs to be taken into account when it comes to the distance related to setting the surround sound?
The distance between the Era 300 and the listener's ear, or the distance between the Era's external speaker and a nearby reflective surface?
The Eras are located on the wall on both sides of the sofa on the wall, facing forward towards the TV and there is a maximum depth of 10-15 cm between the listener and the speakers. The distance between the TV (77”) and the viewing position is approx. 3 m. I know it's not perfect, but you have to adapt to the existing conditions. Both are at an equal distance, 1.3 m to the right and left of the student's position. The one on the left is 40 cm and the one on the right is 60 cm from the furniture, which means the reflecting surface.
During movies, I have the feeling that the one on the left sounds louder than the one on the right. Sometimes I don't even hear the right side, but then it speaks when I listen to it. (No, it's not the speaker that's at fault. As a test, I swapped the two sides in the settings software, then the other side sounded better. Then.)
I admit, it makes me extremely nervous, that's why I started playing with the settings, I re-measured several times with Trueplay.
The basic settings may be good, but it would still be nice to know what the correct setting is. Or what should I change in order to achieve a better atmospheric sound.
I may just need to hit a good Trueplay measurement. Arc Ultra is planned, maybe it will fix this problem.

The Surround Distance setting refers to the distance from the speaker to the ideal listening position, i.e. your ears.
If you are using TruePlay Tuning, this setting, along with spatial adjustments, are chosen for you automatically. If you want to adjust the Surround Distance setting manually, please disable TruePlay to do so.
No one can tell you the correct settings to use, however - it all tends to be particular to the room and the user.

Thank you for your reply. We managed to set the system to the appropriate level.
However, I have noticed a strange way for 1 week, - maybe after the automatic update of the app, or because of the appearance of ultra - the distance setting can no longer be adjusted, it is displayed in gray. Turning Trueplay off and on doesn't help in this state, and the system doesn't sound like it did before.
Is it recommended to retune the entire system?

There was an issue fixed recently whereby the Surround Distance settings were not greyed-out as they should be when TruePlay is enabled - this is likely the change that you noticed.
It should no longer be greyed-out once you disable TruePlay, however - if you see this, please force-close the Sonos app and reopen it. If the setting is still greyed-out after doing so (and with TruePlay Tuning disabled), please let me know.
Re-tuning may help with the sound, but the Surround Distance setting should be greyed-out when TruePlay is active, so if you are trying to get that setting in particular back, TruePlay Tuning will not help, no.
