I have a Beam gen2 paired with a sub gen3. Can I add just one era 300 to this system? Or do I have to buy two?

You can add it as a different room, but 2 are needed if you want them as surrounds bonded to the Beam.

So it would only match the beam with music and not movies?

It will play TV sound too (when grouped with the Beam), but with a 75ms delay. And it will play all the the sound, not surround.
