Hi, the Era 300s are coming soon and I think I'll connect them as Surround to my Beam 2 and the Sub mini. Only now I have the Era 100s as surround and I'd like to keep them in Stereo. I realized that I have to remove them and then pair them in stereo. And I think I also have to see as if they were in another room otherwise the Era 300s won't go into atmos. How do I do it all? Once you remove the 100s as surrounds, you can create another room for them. This means they will be seperate from the Beam and 300s. Then add the 300s as surrounds to the Beam. You will get Dolby Atmos in this configuration.
When you “Group” another room that is NOT Dolby Atmos capable with the Beam and Era 300s, the audio will automatically be reduced to the capabilities of the lower end speaker.
So while watching content that has Dolby Atmos, if you want to keep the immersive sound, do not group the rooms.

+17The Era 300 works well as surrounds, but because the front speaker, line in and Bluetooth are disabled in this configuration, I feel they are better suited as a stereo pair and Era 100 as surrounds.
Its a trade off for the Era 300 because it does provide the immersive sound that the Era 100 cannot.
But since you will have both, give a good listen to the Beam, Sub Mini and Era 100s, If you are able to watch a film with Dolby Atmos content, use that for your testing. Then remove the 100s and add the 300s as surrounds and watch the film again. Choose the speaker you like best for surrounds and place the other pair in another room.

The front left-center-right channels for any surround format; Atmos TV, Atmos Audio, or spatial audio, are being played by the Beam. There is no way to have separate “front” channels when using a soundbar. You can group them, but it is not recommended because the results are unfavorable with both TV and spatial sources. You get speakers repeating channels that are meant to be point or positional sources, messing up Atmos and/or surround effects.
My advice, use the Era 300’s as surrounds with the Beam to play TV and Atmos/spatial audio. Use the Era 100’s for stereo music and the Line-In for the turntable. No need to group anything together, adding more speakers doesn’t always mean better sound.
I have an Arc Ultra and a pair of 100s and 300s. Due to placement issues I wasn’t able to use the 300s as surrounds, the 100s are working great for that.
I moved the 300s to a different room of the house and have them set up as an Atmos/Stereo pair and I’m really impressed with the Atmos sound. Actually the Stereo sound is pretty good too but you really hear the difference when switching from an Atmos to Stereo track.
