This is my third question. I divided them up since they are for different issues.

When I pick Dolby Atmos on the PS5 (Pro) sound settings, then volume levels in games don’t seem right. In god of war ragnarok Mimirs voice is too quiet, and Atreus voice is too loud. Boss battle effects are also super loud. In tekken 8 the commentators voice is too quiet. However If I change to LPCM, then the volume levels are much more even, and what I would expect. It’s one thing for some effects to be so loud, but it doesn’t make sense for character voices to have different db levels.

I am wondering if this has anything to do with the Arc Ultra, or if other Dolby Atmos soundbars will have the exact same issue to the same extent? Does the Arc Ultra highlight the issue more than say a Samsung soundbar? With the TV speakers it’s not that noticeable. It’s an LG C4 so it supports Dolby Atmos, but obviously it also has much less capable speakers.

Have you tried different settings on the speech enhancement?

Make sure the TV is set to these settings:

HDMI Input Audio Format: Bitstream

Digital Sound Output: Pass Through

eARC Support: On

And set the PS5 to these settings:

Output Device: HDMI Device (AV amplifier)

HDMI Device Type: AV amplifier

Number of Channels: 7.1 ch

Audio Format (Priority): Dolby Atmos

This does not help. When Picking LPCM instead of Dolby Atmos the character voices have the same volume, but not with Dolby Atmos.

That makes it even worse. Mimirs voice become more quiet the higher the level, and Atreus is still as loud but more piercing with this on.

Are you using any surround speakers? What is the Height Audio level currently set to in the Sonos app?

Height was on +4, but I turned it down to -10 and there is no difference. I am only using the Arc Ultra.

Since Mimirs voice gets more quiet with speech enhancement on I am guessing the Arc Ultra only interprets Atreus voice as a dialog and boosts it while Lovering Mimirs… But this is only in Dolby Atmos… Edit: Retested with TV speakers and there is some, but much smaller difference between LPCM and Dolby Atmos for the character volumes in gowr. Seems like a bug with the Arc Ultra to me.

I’m having a similar problem with Black Myth Wukong, PS5, Arc Ultra + Era 300 surrounds. It’s totally imbalanced and I’m hoping there’s a solution somewhere.

Do you have Night Sound enabled in the Sonos app? It seems to be causing issues with Dolby Atmos and 5.1 audio.

Night sound off here.
