is sonos arc compatible with DirectV? Does it require more cables for connection?

Yes, you can sometimes, if you pay more, get Atmos content from DirecTV, but most of their content is in Dolby Digital, which works fine with the Arc.

No extra cables, beyond the normal HDMI 2.0 cables between the DirecTV box and the TV, and the TV’s ARC port and the Arc. And of course, a TV that can pass through the appropriate signal.

That is too old for HDMI-ARC but looks like it does have s/pdif out so you can use the optical adapter, though you might only be able to get stereo and not DD 5.1.
