cinema sound sofa

I’m thinking of buying a cinema sound sofa which runs of blue tooth. Will my Sonos still work if I Bluetooth my tv to my sofa?

Not likely, no. Sonos both doesn’t generate Bluetooth, and most devices that do (some TVs, mobile devices, etc) only generate a single stream, so you’d be able to either pair your Sonos (stereo only) or your sofa, not both at the same time.

I thought that. Thank you

Having already deflated your idea, I wanted to throw an extra monkey wrench in the works…Sonos can only take (at least to my knowledge) a stereo Bluetooth connection, so any 5.1 Bluetooth connection won’t even ‘connect’ to a Sonos. The only way to get a 5.1 (or greater) signal into a Sonos is via a digital (optical or ARC/eARC) connection.

Now I’m off to look up why it’s called a monkey wrench…

For those interested, this from Wikipedia:

The largely US idiom "to throw a monkey wrench into (something)" means to sabotage something, equivalent to the British English "to throw a spanner in the works".

I’ve been thinking 🤔could I just not disconnect the Sonos when I have a film on, would it work then?

It depends, I suppose, again on what is ‘sending’ and what is ‘receiving’ the Bluetooth signal. Not really a Sonos question. But I’d be worried about the 5.1 aspect, in addition. It seems like a neat idea, just really hard (at both ends!) to accomplish.

I’ve no idea either I just loved the cinema sofa with all the gizmos for watching a movie, vibrations immersive sounds the full effect. I watched a demo in store with their tv and it blew me away. Obviously I wouldn’t want that all the time just when I’ve got a good action film on 🤣🤣 I do love my Sonos though tbf

I’d be terribly surprised if it actually used Bluetooth, to be honest. Although what form of connection it has might be trouble switching back and forth with your Sonos. Not having a link to a description makes it hard to be sure, though.

I was thinking that. Thanks Bruce I’ll just add more Sonos surround speakers.

The thing there to remember is Sonos supports a single pair of surround speakers per soundbar. Anything more than a single pair isn’t supported by Sonos’ software. However, upgrading the type of that pair can make a difference, especially when moving from standard single point speakers to the Era 300, which help Atmos performance substantially.

I only have the arc ultra and a sub 4 atm, although my sub 4 is a hit or miss for pairing

That suggests one of two things…either your soundbar isn’t receiving a .1 signal (essentially, it is getting  a stereo signal, but as not all shows are broadcast in a 5.1 or higher signal, that is possible), or there is some wifi interference affecting the connection between your Sub and the device it connects to, the Arc Ultra (not your WiFi!).

I’d read that linked FAQ and check for any possibilities, but if you’re still having troubles, I would recommend that you submit a system diagnostic within 10 minutes of reproducing the issue, and call Sonos Support to discuss it. Don’t post the resulting diagnostic number here.

There may be information included in the diagnostic that will help Sonos pinpoint the issue and help you find a solution.

When you speak directly to the Support staff, they have tools at their disposal that will allow them to give you advice specific to your network and Sonos system.

Thanks Bruce I did that and they have me back up and running! Thank you so much. Also what do you think to the era 300? Worth investing?

I’m fond of their expanded use as surrounds in my living room. Have never used them as Atmos music speakers, so I don’t have an opinion there, all of my personal music choices are stereo ;)

The bedroom has Era 100s, the living room has the Era 300s. I tend to watch much more in the living room, especially Atmos enabled movies.
