Hello,

First time posting and most recently first time Sonos buyer. I purchased a Sonos Arc Ultra and I am in love with it. Only ever used TV speakers before so this was a very welcomed change.  I have a 30% of coupon that I can use from my neighbor and I am wanting to get a sub 4 or Era 300. I think the era 300 will do me best as the sub in the arc ultra is good enough for now lol in my house. Only problem is that I can't put the speakers behind my couch only to the side of me about 1’ away from the views heads. Is it worth it or just get the sub 4 and forgo the surround for now.

Also I would love to do Best Buy pick up because I am impatient 🙂 but I do not see that option anywhere. not even greyed out. I am in San Diego and they all have what I am looking for in stock.

Thanks

First point to mention is that you cannot use a single speaker, Era 300 or otherwise, for surrounds.  You need to have a pair of like speakers.  The coupon is likely for only 1 product, but a set of 2 speakers is counted as one product on the Sonos website, so it can be used that way.  If budget is an issue, then getting Era 100s instead of 300s will still be a big improvement in my opinion.

As far as whether the location of the speakers will work ok, it’s hard to tell without pictures.

Consider the coupon carefully, many allow purchase of “one item” at the 30% discount. But that “one item” is tricky as it can be one Sonos or one set of Sonos.

One item:

Also one item: (but way more than you need)

Bar + Sub + surrounds - for sure it’s good.

But unless you are some anti-bass person (I guess they exist) and if it’s a choice between a sub or surrounds, it’s sub every time.

I describe sub as a bass player in a band. Surrounds are like adding a 2nd guitar- fills out the sound for sure, but you wouldn’t add a 2nd guitar before having a bass player in the band. Bass is fundamental for the full spectrum.

As an extra note, Best Buy is not owned by Sonos, it would likely be impossible to purchase from Sonos, and take delivery from a third party, including Best Buy. Or any other retailer, for that matter.
