I had a beam setup to a Sony tv and it was working buy suddenly its stopped.

Everytime I set tv to use surround sound system it changed back to tv saying communication issue to audio system.

What would have changed?

It could be some sort of power fluctuation messed up one or both of the devices. I’d probably first check the TV and Sonos for any software updates there might be, then unplug them both for three minutes, and then plug them back in, forcing a reboot to both devices.

Hi @CraseaDragon

What soundbar are you using Beam Gen1 or Gen2 ?

What model Sony tv ?

Do you use a TV HDMI ARC/eARC port and quality certificate HDMI cable?

Did you try to install latest Sony Tv firmware ?

Could you try to use this Sony TV settings:

Disable Braviasync:

Settings > Channels & Inputs > External
Inputs > Bravia Sync Settings > Bravia
Sync Control > Off > Device Auto Power
Off > On > TV Auto Power On > On

Settings > Watching TV > External Inputs >
Bravia Sync Settings > Bravia Sync Device
List > Enable

Settings > Watching TV > External Inputs >
HDMI Signal Format > HDMI 3 (eARC/ARC)
> Enhanced Format

And disable audio system and eARC.

Settings > Display & Sounds > Audio
Output > Speakers > Audio System

Settings > Display & Sounds > Audio
Output > eARC Mode > On or Auto

Settings > Display & Sounds > Audio
Output > Digital Audio Out > Auto 1 or Auto 2

Settings > Display & Sounds > Audio
Output > Digital Digital Plus Output >
Dolby Digital Plus

Settings > Display & Sounds > Audio

Settings > Pass through mode (Auto)

Sony tv model is  XR- 55A80J

Beam is gen 2

Have tried those settings..

I have a 2nd tv with an sonos arc and that is same tv so have even set all setting on tv to match that one. Still no luck.

Checked software updates all upto date.

I have even done factory reset on the tv.

Try this:

Disconnect everything from the TV and unplug the Beam and TV from power for a couple of minutes. Plug everything back in but keep everything disconnected. Make sure Bravia Sync is enabled in the TV settings. Run TV Setup in the Sonos app and follow the app instructions. When the app instructs you, connect the Beam to the TV’s HDMI ARC/eARC port using the Sonos-supplied HDMI cable. After the Beam has been successfully connected, connect any other devices to the TV.
