I just wanted to say I connected my beam to a wired AV receiver speaker setup by connecting my XFINITY cable box digital audio toslink output with adapter to HDMI input on the beam. All audio perfectly synced- that’s if you have a cable box with digital audio out.

That is indeed the purpose of the adapter, to convert a digital optical signal to HDMI-ARC.

It does, however, restrict the signal to Dolby Digital, and keeps you from using CEC (volume, higher quality sound stream, etc).

But it is delightful for people who have TVs or receivers that don’t have an ARC output.
