Hi

Currently have a Beam Gen 2 and Sub Mini connected to a Sony OLED tv, both via WiFI and they are controlled for the volume by the Sky Q remote control. Can also control via the Sonos app.

When watch the tv at night the volume might typically be set at No 4.

When the tv is turned on the following day it always come back on at volume level 10 and above which is actually quite loud.

Would be grateful off any advice or help on how to prevent this if possible.

Thanks

I’m a little confused. You say the Beam is connected via WiFi to the Sony. Normally, a Beam would connected via a HDMI cable to the ARC or eARC port on the TV set. The Sub would be, as suggested, connected via WiFi to the Beam.

if that’s the case, the volume setting is frequently a function of the TV, which sets the volume of any attached speaker. You may want to check with Sony as to why they’re sending the change in volume to the Sonos over ARC/eARC.

However, if indeed the Beam is connected to the Sony via WiFi, as you’ve said, can you confirm how this is the case, and how the Sky Q remote is controlling the volume?

Thanks again for the reply. Will double check and then come back.

Hi.

Airgetlam, have double checked and you are correct. The beam gen 2 is connected to the TV via hdmi into the e-arc port .

If I then check my condition status it does though say both the beam gen 2 and sub mini are connected to my router via Wi-Fi and both have a stron connection.

Am I correct in saying you feel the issue is with the Sony tv settings then, if so will look into it as advised.

Thanks again.

Well, my Arc gets its volume instructions for the TV input from the TV set, I’d assume the Beam is the same way, since both use ARC/eARC. Streaming music (a different type of input), the software picks up the previous settings.

I’d definitely be checking with Sony…and double checking the TV for firmware updates as well.
