  • Directv over internet
  • LG smart tv
  • Genie receiver and remote
  • Alexa and Echo
  • Playbar and one OneSL

These were all installed separately over a period of years.  All software current…no observable or reported hardware problems

Last piece of kit was the Genie remote. After install, it worked just fine...I could adjust the volume of the speakers in the app or by using the volume button on the remote.

Then...it just stopped.  Could not adjust the volume with either the remote or the app.  Have had to go back to the tv internal speakers, and that ain’t no fun when you’re watching Apocalypse Now.

I have tried everything I can think of...uninstall and reinstall everything and unplug and plug back.  No Love.

Any thoughts...anyone?

Actually, no. I know the op cable is connected on both ends but I never thought about replacement.  Do they go bad?

Thanks.

They can go bad. And if you have an extra optical cable laying around, it wouldn’t hurt to try.

Are you able to stream music to the Playbar using the Sonos app?

Did you check your connections with the optical cable? Have you tried testing with a different optical cable?

I will get a new one forthwith...is it proprietary to Sonos or will any do?

Yes, I can stream music from my library - Apple Music - no prob.

Thanks

Any optical cable will do. Just be sure to remove the plastic caps on both ends before you connect it to the TV and Playbar. You can also try running the TV Setup process in the Sonos app under the Playbar’s settings when you switch out the cable.

If the problem is not being able to change the volume via the remote, I fail to see how a new optical cable would help, though.

Have you followed these instructions to check your remote is still correctly configured?

Have installed new op cable...tried to reconfigure my TV in Sonos app...no love.  I am flummoxed.
