Hi.

I’m using the latest ATV which is connected to Hisense U7KAU via hdmi. The tv is connected via the earc port to a Sonos Beam gen1. The Beam, along with a mini sub and era100 speakers are used for surround sound.
ATV sound is set to DD5.1 and TV is set to passthrough audio.

While watching a show via the ATV, the sound will suddenly go weird for 5-10 seconds. I can still make out what’s being said on the show during this period, but clearly having a moment. The sound comes right again after the 5-10 seconds and the show continues.
Also, and this is by far the biggest and most regular issue - turning the tv/ATV on or starting a show on any of the streaming apps on ATV, the tv will suddenly show ‘white ants’ (also known as ‘white noise’ or ‘black and white static’). This doesn’t happen every single time I watch tv, only about 30-40% of the time.
The only way to get things back to normal is to power cycle the ATV, TV and Sonos, all at the same time..

I’ve reached out to Apple and they don’t believe it’s on their side  I tried the Sonos support, which gets you to run a diagnostic and they check on their side - they also confirmed no issue.
I confirmed the hdmi cables I use are sufficiently rated for max bandwidth (4k video, dolby sound, etc.)

Has anyone else experienced something similar?

Do check the HDMI lead is certified, Bluesound actually have a great “HDMI connecting procedure” which helps with handshaking issues and worth following along with info on certified HDMI leads.
