ATV 4K has been updated and now everything plays in Atmos.

Apple has released a beta for Apple TV (tvOS 26.4)

In this update: "It appears that Apple added this new setting (Continuous Audio Connection), in part, to address complaints from Apple TV users who use Sonos speakers paired with AV receivers. Some users have indicated they hear popping noises or awkwardly low volume levels on certain channels, specifically with 5.1-channel content."

When I open my SONOS App it now shows that EVERYTHING I play from ATV is in Dolby Atmos, these are TV programs that I am 100% sure are not played in Atmos.

It says: “Apple TV uses a Dolby MAT connection for glitch-free playback across formats. Older receivers may indicate an Atmos connection, but original mixes will not be modified.”

I know it's a beta but it will be interesting to follow and see if they fix the bug.

The article can be read here: tvOS 26.4 adds new ‘Continuous Audio Connection’ on Apple TV

My setup: Samsung S90C - ATV 4K Gen 2 - Arc Ultra - 2x Era 300 - Sub 4.

Sony is not updating an Apple Remote.

- After the recent apple update my Apple Remote stopped controlling my the volume on my Sonos systems.

  • I looked here for advice and you suggested I update my Sony tv; which i did.
  • That seemed to have fixed the Apple Remote controlling the Sonos systems.
  • Sony came out with another update this weekend.
  • After updating the tv, the remote no longer controls the volume on the Sonos system.

Make sure the Sony update didn’t disengage its HDMI CEC.

The HDMI CEC is still active. Thanks for the idea.

As the Sonos receives commands (like volume) from the TV, it does sound like Sony changed something that affects CeC, as @AjTrek1 suggested. Not sure what it was, since I don’t have whatever Sony TV you have, and am not familiar with Sony’s update processes. However, I’d be awfully tempted to try to reset the CEC system in the TV by unplugging the TV from the wall for two minutes, and then plugging it back in. Wouldn’t really hurt to do the Sonos at the same time, even though I’m betting the issue isn’t there. But, as I say, it wouldn’t hurt to reset them both.

If it still isn’t working, I would recommend that you submit a system diagnostic within 10 minutes of experiencing this problem, and call Sonos Support to discuss it. Don’t post the resulting diagnostic number here.

There may be information included in the diagnostic that will help Sonos pinpoint the issue and help you find a solution. Certainly, I’d think Sonos could see if any information is coming from the TV via the ARC (HDMI) system from the TV’s CEC computer.

When you speak directly to the Support staff, they have tools at their disposal that will allow them to give you advice specific to your network and Sonos system.

This most likely. It happens occasionally.
