I am considering upgrading from the Playbar to the ARC Ultra. My current system consists of the following pieces: The Playbar, Gen 2 Sub, 2-One SL’s, and 2-Gen 2 Play 5’s. The Play 5”s are dedicated to a CD player. I want to upgrade to the ARC Ultra but have a few questions. Will the Gen 2 sub and One SL’s connect to the ARC Ultra and will I be able to use the TV volume control for the group? My plan is to use the One SL’s in surround mode until I upgrade to the ERA100 or ERA300 in the near future. If the One SL’s won’t work as I like, will the ERA’s volume be able to be controlled with the ARC Ultra?

Thanks for any help.

Yes, and no?

Essentially, you’re merely replacing the PLAYBAR with the Arc Ultra. Which means you’re going to un-bond all devices from the PLAYBAR, and then install the Arc Ultra, and re-bond the surrounds and the Sub.

As you can see from the Arc Ultra’s sales page, particularly the FAQ associated with it, the Arc Ultra will work with your surrounds and Sub. Or, when you choose to replace the Ones with Era speakers as surrounds, it will continue to work. Just always remember to remove old devices from your setup in the software before trying to set up new devices.

The remote control for your TV will control the volume for the ‘room’ that contains the Arc Ultra, via the CEC (HDMI-ARC) connection. It won’t control other rooms, presumably your Sonos PLAY:5s.

@Papafloyd59

Yes, you can use your Sub Gen2 and OneSLs with Arc Ultra as a surround home cinema system.
As you can see on Arc Ultras product page in FAQs your devices are compatible.

TV remote control also will control the whole surround setup / room.
