I am having trouble getting the surround songs to work.  I had to reset all the speakers, they are now connected as a ‘system’ but only sound comes out of the Arc. The tv is set up as dolby as are the apps, doesn't matter what tv channel or programme I watch,  no sound.  I have reset the speakers about 5 times - it seems to be since I got a new router. I've also had to set the router up as 2.4GHz to actually get them all to connect.  Any ideas?

Do they play ok if you’re streaming music to the room? 
What data format does the app report the room is receiving when watching tv? 


The Arc creates a dedicated 5Ghz wifi link to the surrounds, by the way, so if you’ve got them set up on your 2.4ghz wifi they may not be properly added as surrounds. Are they in the same Sonos room as the Arc, or a stereo pair in a different room?

So I changed to 5GHz and rebooted wifi, they are all now on one system as before.  Don't work when playing music or tv sound. 

 

Data format says dolby multi channel pcm 5.1

In Sonos terminology, a “room” is used as a label to identify a speaker or collection of speakers. So your roomname could be Lounge or Mavis. Logically, the name relates to the physical space such as Kitchen or Study. 
 

With a surround system, you (again in Sonos terminology) “bond” the surrounds to the soundbar. Let’s say that room in your house is your lounge, but let’s label it in the Sonos system as Fred. In your situation, the room called Fred should consist of Arc and two surround speakers (your profile says Play:1’s?).  All of the speakers will physically be in your lounge for obvious reasons. 

When you stream music from a source such as Amazon Music, Pandora, etc to Fred the music should automatically play through all speakers. Which speakers will produce sound from a tv signal - even if it’s a music program - will depend on the format of the signal, but it may only be the front speakers (your Arc) that play. The fact that streamed music  only plays from the Arc suggests the surrounds aren’t actually set up as surrounds, but are either not yet allocated to a room, set as a different room, or have been added to a different system. 
 

Which version of the app are you using, so we can try to guide you through checking your setup, if you need that help?


 The WiFi band to the Arc has no effect on the communication from the Arc 5GHz signal to the “bonded” sub /surrounds.  So 2.4 or 5 WiFi will work.  If you are playing music and there is not enough sound from the rears look at….. Settings ( gear icon ) - Room ( your surround system ) - Surround Audio - Music Playback.  Make sure the Music Playback setting is set to Full.

  If you’re subscribed to Apple Music or Amazon Music Unlimited try some Dolby Atmos music and see if Dolby Atmos is shown on the Sonos app Now Playing screen.  TV broadcasts are not Dolby Atmos.  You would need a service that has Atmos movies to test Atmos from TV.

 Also run TruePlay on your surround system.  If your phone is Android you’ll need to borrow an iPhone from a Sonos frien

All speakers are set up as one system round the arc - as they have been for the past 4 years and I've only had this issue the past 6 weeks or so. I've reset, factory reset, readded them to the system but no luck. 

 

OS is S2, not sure how to check the app version, it says 80.05.07.........c

Yes the music i checked is dolby atmos from amazon, but only the arc has soubd, however loud i put the speaers

You didn’t say it used to work… I thought you were trying to set up a new system, so sorry if I’ve been telling you stuff you already know! 
It’s a shame you’ve factory reset as that’s taken away info that might have helped - but that said, I wonder if there’s a fault in the Arc. If I were you I’d generate a diagnostics report and call Sonos support to see what they say. 
You could try disconnecting the Play:1’s and setting them up in a new room, just to check they’re working ok, but I’m suspecting an issue with the Arc. 


Is the Arc connected via Ethernet?  If so is the Arc WiFi turned OFF?  If it’s OFF turn it back ON.  Are all the speakers in the surround system on the same firmware Version 16.3.3?

You didn’t say it used to work… I thought you were trying to set up a new system, so sorry if I’ve been telling you stuff you already know!

I've set the ones up separately and they are definitely working on their own. It's quite annoying.... I'll do as you say, good idea!


Is the Arc connected via Ethernet?  If so is the Arc WiFi turned OFF?  If it’s OFF turn it back ON.  Are all the speakers in the surround system on the same firmware Version 16.3.3?

All are connected via wifi and I updated the software for them all, not sure about the version but I'll check


I can't find the version of firmware - the hardware versions are different though


 It’s in the app.  Settings ( gear icon ) - Manage - About Your System.  Scroll down on that screen.  All speakers should be on Version 16.3.3 (80.1-56190).

Tried with sonos sipport, they ask me so many questions about the app I got kicked out of the chat 3 times and had to start again. Didn't get anywhere, might try again another day :-(
