Hello,

I’m reaching out to seek help regarding an audio issue I’ve been experiencing with my home theater setup.

Here’s a summary of my configuration:

• An Apple TV 4K (latest generation) connected via HDMI to a ViewSonic LX 700-4K projector,

• The projector is connected via its HDMI eARC port to a Sonos Beam Gen 2,

• The Beam is paired with two Sonos One speakers for surround sound.

The problem occurs only at the start of playback. The first audio output from the Beam is distorted or stuttering. I’ve noticed that changing the video format on the Apple TV (e.g., modifying the color settings) temporarily resolves the issue until the next restart.

Another workaround I’ve tried is unplugging and reconnecting the HDMI cable from the projector, which also temporarily fixes the issue.

I’ve already replaced the HDMI cables with ultra-high-speed, latest-generation ones, but the problem persists. I’ve also tested various settings between the Apple TV and the Sonos app, but nothing provides a permanent fix—only temporary solutions.

I contacted Sonos support, but they couldn’t assist further, as they don’t officially support connections between a soundbar and a projector.

I’m curious if anyone has faced similar issues, whether with this specific setup or with a comparable configuration, and if so, what solutions worked for you.

Thank you for your time and any suggestions you can share!

Hello @Sbmo, welcome to the Sonos Community!

I’m sorry to hear you are experiencing issues with the audio of your Sonos Beam (Gen 2) when connected to your ViewSonic projector.

As you were told by the Sonos Support team, this setup is unsupported and I am also unable to assist you further, but it was a great idea to create this thread.

Thank you for sharing all these temporary workarounds and fixes, hopefully they’ll help anyone who steps upon this.

With my response your thread moved back to the top of the latest activity list, maybe other users with a similar setup can provide some additional information.

I hope this helps.

Hi @Sbmo

One thing that may help is to reboot the Projector by unplugging it from power for at least 1 minute.

I hope this helps.
