Amp 4.1 setup with ceiling speakers and front speakers

Hi all

I currently use a Sonos Amp to power two wired front speakers.

I want to make a 4.1 setup as home theater by adding a sub and two ceiling speakers above sofa.

Is that something that Amp can manage and do you think the two ceiling speakers will give good home theater performance?

Many thanks!

Not without another Amp to drive those surround speakers. By itself, the Amp is only stereo, when used with a second Amp, and the two are ‘bonded’, can it be used as part of a 4.1 system.

I am not a fan of ceiling speakers for surround use, most home theater designers suggest speakers mounted at ear level, not above the head.

As said the ceiling option isn’t optimal.

Have you looked at in-wall speaker options? Sonos offers some tuned to match the Amp but most other brands will work.

You can get an in-wall sub too.

Thanks, you're confirming my thoughts taht ceiling speakers are suboptimal.

Unfortunately there is no wall behind the sofa for in wall speakers so maybe the best option is to go with two Era100 even though I wanted to have the most integrated. I'll need to find a way to best incorporate it into the space.
