Will my Blu-ray player work with my Sonos speakers

Hi! I’m thinking about buying the Magnetar-Audio UDP800 4K UHD Blu-ray player so I will be able to play 4K movies and SACD for music. Will this setup work with my Sonos speakers if I connect the Blu-ray player with HDMI to my TV and then a HDMI from the TV to my Sonos Soundbar? Will it be able to play Dolby Atmos and SACD-sound from the blue-ray player through my TV and then to my Sonos speakers? Do I loose any quality in either sound or video? Do I need for example a receiver as well for this to work?

Speakers: Sonos Arc soundbar, two Sonos One speakers for surround and a Sonos Sub Gen 3

TV: LG OLED65CX6LA

Bluray player: Magnetar-Audio UDP800 4K UHD

Yes it will.  I use a similar set up using a 4k Blueray player and the audio is Dolby Surround or Atmos on encoded disks and many other surround audio sources.  For audio CD listening it works well too

For SA CD, as long as the player allows it they will play.  However you need to check to see if the SA CD stream works over HDMI it may just be CD audio layer missing the DSD stream.

Thank you for the reply, however I have seen a lot of discussions on the Sonos community with people having issues with playing SACD with Sonos speakers with similar setups. So that's why I was a bit worried about that in particular. What do you mean by checking if “the CD audio layer is missing the DSD stream”?

Sonos will not process SACD audio natively. The player will need to process the audio as PCM to be heard via Sonos. Quite frankly I have SACD discs that I use to play through a conventional AVR and  wired speakers. I stopped purchasing SACD as all transfers were not equal to hear a difference between regular CD audio therefore not justifying the cost.

From what I can tell from searching around a bit, the Magnetar-Audio UDP800 can convert SACD's DSD format to PCM audio. Although I'm not an expert in this field, is someone able to confirm this?

The information you seek is readily available at this link . You’ll have to scroll through it to find your answer. I’d give it to you; but you need to do some of the work.😂

BTW…I'm not an expert in the field of audio conversion formats either.

Thank you for the tip, I found this in the “SACD Output”-section:

SACD Output

Auto (default) - Automatically output format selection. If supported by the connected device, DSD

will be output. Otherwise, PCM will be output.

PCM - Convert SACD data into multi-track and high-resolution PCM data. The converted

PCM data are output through HDMI, or output through the output analog audio port

after processing by the internal DAC (digital analog converter).

DSD - Direct stream digital (DSD) of SACD is not converted, but directly output

through HDMI. For analog audio output, DSD data are directly converted into

analog signals via internal DAC.

So it seems like it should work from what I can understand.
