The classical problem problem here, Netflix produces DD+...

Ok my MacMini can convert it into stereo but that is not optimal..

So i've been searching for a small device that can do this trick (not a full size receiver)

So far i came across these switches:

* Monoprice

* Octava

* Inday

* Kanex

Now these seem to, in the best case only request DD5.1 from the source, but they don't transcode when the source is available in f.e. DTS.

Is there anybody here who can can advise me to buy a device that does: simply convert all audio coming out of a HDMI cable and transcode it into plain DD?
I finally found this link since I saw another request for it also recently

but the product itself is this

http://www.ambery.com/2hddodtsdihd.html

can be found on ebay under "HDMI DTS Converter with optical out"

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/HDMI-Dolby-DTS-PCM-5-1-7-1-To-Optical-Digital-Audio-Converter-Decoder-/230840436904

Seems to suggest it will convert DTS via HDMI in to DD5.1 out on optical port. I have no idea if it works but Donovan indicates it does !
Many thanks, i will purchase this one...

Let us know how you get on with it. If it works, could be a good solution for many people !

Any update on this? Would like to know if this (the ambery one) is a decent solution for converting DTS to DD 5.1 on the fly.

Also wondering if it's possible to hook 3 HDMI devices (ATV, STB, BluRay) into my Samsung TV's HDMI inputs, and use the HDMI ARC heading back to this converter, thus porting everything through this device's optical into the playbar. Would certainly be a clean catch-all, still using the TV's existing HDMI's and avoiding a switch...so long as everything would leave via the TV's HDMI-ARC in proper audio formats and not be downscaled to Stereo.

Thoughts?
Any update on this product Ambery Converter?
Did you every get this and test it out?
