Does anybody know what the upfiring drivers in the Arc do, (if anything), with a stereo or 5.1 signal?

The two upward firing drivers aren’t used when playing non-Dolby Atmos content.

Because I have yet to hear any audio playing from the upward firing drivers when watching non-Dolby Atmos content.
