The firmware update allows Dolby Digital 5.1 surround with Apple TV 4K and Dolby Vision but not Dolby Atmos yet. I receive both Dolby Atmos and Dolby Vision with ROKU with no problems. Glad they are working on it with people who don’t have HDMI eARC but have HDMI ARC instead. I hope TVOS 15 may fix the problem.

Getting Dolby Atmos audio from an Apple TV 4K without HDMI eARC is very unlikely to happen because of the Dolby MAT audio codec the Apple TV uses to deliver Dolby Atmos audio.

You might consider getting the HDFury Arcana. It will allow your Apple TV to send audio directly to the Arc rather than having to go through your TV.
