Is it possible to install the soundbar flush inside a wall something like this? http://s3.amazonaws.com/electronichousesite/wp-content/uploads/2015/09/02181835/1soundchoice_in_wall.jpg

Will this compromise the sound quality? if it is possible, would i have to create space around the 'hole in the wall' for the sound to travel?
No!
Let me clarify what Belly M is saying. His "Nope" is in response to your first sentence. I would add a "Yep" to your question about compromise, and a "That would be complex and difficult" to your last sentence/question.

If you look at the Playbar, it has speakers pointing 45 degrees up, as well as to the right and left by 45 degrees. Enclosing it in any space like a flush (to the front of the speaker) mount in the wall would absolutely be a detriment to the quality of the sound. I would bet even the TruePlay feature offered by Sonos wouldn't be able to help with any quality result.

If you need something that is "inside" a wall or cabinet, then Sonos isn't the way to go.

On the other hand, there are many mounts that put the Sonos itself flush against (not in) the wall, and all of those would be the recommended way I'd go.

Thank you both for your responses. I was afraid that was the case. would of been nice to have a clean in wall look but a small compromise to make for awesome sound.
