Sonos sound bar to Sony Bravia

I have connected to optical output of my Sony Bravia TV to the Sonos sound bar.

I had previously used the sound bar with a Panasonic TV and I used the TV remote to control the volume on my sound bar and surround Play1 speakers.

While the sound from the TV is coming out of the sound bar I cannot control the volume level using the TV remote.

Can I pair the Sony TV remote to the sound bar?

I think Sonos hires the same folks that design the intentionally confusing 5000 piece cardboard puzzles to do their menu layout. :-)
