sonos roam as surrounds

Wanted to add another request to add the ability to use a pair of Sonos roams as surround speakers for Sonos beam gen 2 or any other bar.

I think all Sonos owners who use this feature would be capable of enabling / disabling the feature manually without any software changes.

I have seen suggested elsewhere that a good option could be the roams could enter surround mode when placed on charge if that is desired.

Not sure how a user could enable/disable such a feature manually without any software change when the ability to do so is not already in the software?!

Maybe you got confused because it isn't possible, you can only put surrounds with speakers non portable, because the roam isn't designed for this.

Hey guys thanks for replying.

Obviously a enable surround button would have to be added but id hope that would be within the capabilities of the app Devs.

I'm aware it isn't currently possible otherwise I wouldn't be requesting the feature.

It‘s not only the button. For example Trueplay would have to be remembered for two set ups too. That also isn’t in the system now. And all this coding would probably result in people buying less or less expensive speakers,

I don’t imagine the addition of a toggle would be difficult, it is all the other development required to allow the feature to work seamlessly in the first place.

Like dealing with, in software, if one (or both) surround speakers were ‘missing’ for some reason. I suspect there would be a huge amount of thought, planning, and execution, if such a feature were considered. Nothing is impossible, as they say, in software, but there is, I suspect, a lot of background stuff going on that we aren’t really cognizant of.

Yeah you're probably right but I think we're all playing software dev and I get the impression that none of us are.

It's up to the Sonos guys to decide if the request is viable software and customer service product wise.

I think it would be a great option to have. The more expensive speakers would still be the preference of people who want the extra quality.
