Question

Sonos Playbar High Pitched Power Supply Noise (Transformer).

Hi everyone, I have a Sonos Playbar which is out of warranty. Working fine except for the incredibly annoying high pitched noise coming from the power supply. The culprit is the transformer on the unit: DXTPQ3230.

This is a fairly well known issue down to I’m assuming poor QA/ a batch of bad transformers that made their way into the Sonos supply chain. Does anyone know where I can source a replacement transformer? I’m in the UK so ideally a supplier in Europe. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Hi brumster, I haven’t resolved yet. I’m going to try dipping the transformer in varnish. Just need to get it desoldered first!

I’m curious about the transformer that's making the noise. I’ve just had a look at an old Play5 Gen 1 and they look to be similar, have you seen the post on BadCaps?
