Sonos five as central speaker

Could I use the Sonos Five as a central speaker in a 5.1 system? I could connect the Five to the A/V amp pre-out central with a mono RCA/stereo minijack adapter.

There would be a lag; Sonos would play later than the other speakers wired to the receiver and create an echo. Better to use one of the many cheaper speakers out there meant to be used as a centre speakers by virtue of their shape.
