SONOS BEAM MULTIPLE HDMI CONNECTION ISSUES

Hi Everyone,

This is my first post in the community so please be gentle.

TV MODEL: LG OLED TV B8 55 inch
SONOS BEAM: Connected to LG TV via HDMI ARC.

The TV and Beam are working correctly eg. volume is controlled by LG remote etc. The issue arises when I plug in my MacBook Pro via a normal HDMI input into the LG TV (which works well) until I return to the use the TV and no sound comes out of the Beam. In order to get the BEAM to work again I have to remove the HDMI cable attached to the MacBook from the TV and turn it on and off again.

I am thinking of wall mounting the TV where removing the HDMI cable to fix the problem will not be viable.

I hope that makes sense. Please help. Thank you to anyone in advance.

That makes it seem like the Mac is preempting the HDMI-CEC identification of the Beam as the ‘correct’ speaker for the system to use. I’d take a look at the settings in the Mac OS to see if you can turn off HDMI-CEC signal, or use one of these adapters that block HDMI-CEC, and see if that resolves the issue.

Or, connect the Beam to the TV via optical, which should work.
