When I first turn on my TV, the Sonos Beam volume starts off really loud and then resumes at normal volume after a few seconds. I hope there is a way to fix it since it is jolting to hear every time you turn the TV on with the remote.
Hi pihaly34

Are you connecting your Sonos Beam to your TV via HDMI-ARC or Optical? I don't own a Beam so what I'm going to say is based upon my knowledge of HDMI-ARC technology.

If you are connecting via HDMI-ARC the Beam and your TV are performing what's called a "handshake" for each to recognize the other and determine how to BEST negotiate the audio signal. The handshake is similar to what fax machines did back in old days when there were G1, G2 and G3 devices (all are G3 devices today) . They would do a handshake to determine how to best transmit the data.

The volume experience may vary from set to set. That said the issue could lie with your TV or it could be a fix that needs to be addressed by Sonos. So I'd say the Beam and your TV at first are determining how to negotiate the audio and once that's done everything is as it should be.

I'd suggest updating your post with the type of connection you are using with the Beam and the brand of your set and also make sure the HDMI cable in use is ARC rated.

Here's some reading on HDMI-ARC you may find interesting:

Thank you for the response. I am using the provided HDMI cord (assuming it is ARC rated) that came with the Beam to connect the Beam via HDMI-ARC with my Samsung smart tv (BN64-02600A-01). The volume works great after that initial few second loudness. Not sure what can be done to eliminate that noise.

Hi

I tried to research your set by the code you provided but no rersults on Samsung website. Is that the correct model number?
The correct model number for the Samsung TV is UN65H7150AF. I believe it is a 2014 model.

Hi

My last suggestion is to verify that you are connecting to the correct HDMI port. The one marked as ARC.

Cheers!

Thanks for the replies everyone. Following as I am having exactly the same issue with my Vizio E60-E3 TV and my Sonos beam. Confirmed I am using the right port on the TV, the provided cable and all software updates are up to date.

UPDATE: I followed the steps on Vizio support per this article and I think I might have fixed it.

My guess it is something to do with the way these settings affect the handshake as described by AjTrek1 above. The volume now comes in after about a second delay, but it's not ridiculously loud as it was before.
Hi All, I am experiencing the same issue with my Samsung UE48HU7500 and connected the beam to the ARC port. I tried opening the link in the previous post but was not able to. Any help would be appreciated.
All, I was able to solve the issue. When I unplugged the Sonos Beam from the tv the sound on the tv itself was set very loud. Once I turned the tv volume lower, I didnt experience the issue anymore. Hope this will help out others as well.
