Do the Symfonisk picture frames work as rear surrounds with the newly announced Sonos Arc Ultra?

“Which Sonos speakers work as surrounds with Arc Ultra?

A matching pair of the following speakers will work as surrounds: Era 300, Era 100, Sonos One (including SL), Sonos Five, Play:5 (Gen 2), and SYMFONISK (Gen 2) speakers. You can also use Amp to power in-wall, in-ceiling, or other passive speakers as surrounds.”

https://www.sonos.com/en-us/shop/arc-ultra-black Scroll down to the FAQ. It does not mention the picture frames…….

On the other hand: Symfonisk (Gen 2) sounds generic - there are lamps, bookshelves a picture frames.

Thanks that was my confusion.  The Picture frames speakers have a fair amount of memory so I’m hoping they do.

I found a different page that is very clear on compatibility.   The Symfonisk Picture Frame is compatible.

It's contradictory. On the link above it states that the Symfonisk (Gen 2) are compatible, but in the dreaded app it does not list them.

I have just installed my ultra, and I can't find a way to reconnect my Symfonisk (Gen 2) to the new ultra.

I am going to be beyond annoyed if I have been mislead about the compatibility.

How do the Symfonisk show in the app? Are they both showing in separate rooms and not stereo paired together?

They were set as surrounds to my beam gen 2, now they don't appear and the app can't even find them if I try to add them again.

Did you use the app to remove them as surrounds first?

Didn't get the chance.

Anyway, I have finally got them to reconnect. Reset router and then reset the speakers and they finally connected. What a pain it was.

Thanks for the replies ☺️

Hi,

There’s not much information about this that i have found.

Thanks

No, Play:5 (Gen2) are not compatible surrounds with Arc Ultra.

From the Arc Ultra’s FAQ

I own beam gen 2 and bookshelf gen 1  speakers as rears . Confused between upgrading to arc or arc ultra. If I upgrade to ultra then I might loose the compatibility to the bookshelf speakers. Has anyone actually tried to connect to arc ultra with gen 1. That would help me lot with my purchasing decision
