I want to be able to use Sonos Arc for the dolby Atmos, but the PS4 only has one HDMI port and both projector and Sonos Arc require the HDMI port. Sonos Arc optical converter doesn’t allow for Atmos. So my question is what is the best receiver for this set up? I will get the PS5 at some point, but that also only has one HDMI port so I’ll run into the same problem there. Any Receiver recommendations or other ideas I’m not aware of?

There’s no need for a receiver. Coming to that, I seriously doubt the (e)ARC on a receiver can work this way, as it is meant to receive the audio from a TV instead of sending it to a projector.

+18Not sure what you want with a receiver, but maybe an HDFury Arcana (4K Arcana 18Gbps | HDFury.com | Connect and Fix everything in HDMI_) could help? This would send eARC (needed for full Atmos) to the Arc and the HDMI-signal to the Beam as I understand it..
+24Note that the Sonos Arc requires an HDMI-ARC port, which can be found on most modern TVs and a tiny % of projectors. A regular HDMI port will not work.
Hmm I guess now I’m confused why I would need to worry about the projector connected to Sonos. I know very little on the subject so bear with me. The PS4 is sending the signal out to the projector and the sonos separately. One port to the projector and one port (currently optical) to the Sonos Arc. So I don’t see a need for this 4k Arcana or knowing that a small percentage of projectors have HDMI-Arc ports as the projector and Sonos aren’t being connected to each other. Am I missing something? That’s why I assume I need a receiver or something else for all inputs (like a PS4, Xbox, etc.) to provide at least one HDMI-Arc port for the Sonos and then a regular HDMI port for the projector. Otherwise I’m running into the issue of two few HDMI ports. What would be the solution for that? HDMI-Arc splitter (if that even exists and whether that would even work.)? Sorry if my questions are confusing, I just don’t know anything in this arena. Thanks

Oh wow okay so I’d use the eArc hdmi port to the Sonos and then regular HDMI out for projector. Thanks so much. I didn’t fully get what this thing was, but your explanation and that picture helped out a lot!
I have the HD Fury Arcana. Sound seems to work but when i use the app it says “Connecting Issue: We’ve detected an issue with your HDMI connection. We’ll help you fix it.”
Since it is a PS4 and not TV it tells me to plug into a ARC HDMI port on a TV then to test connection (I can’t avoid this step). If I hit test, it says CEC not connected and to start all over again.
I’ve tested the PS4 with the new Wonder Woman movie as that is in Dolby Atmos and the Sonos Sytem Info says it is Dolby Digital Plus 5.1.
I have sound set to Bitstream (Dolby) on my PS4.
I don’t know where the issue lies. I assume something with the Arcana. Any ideas?

Hello, I’m looking to do a setup like was mentioned above by 106rallye (multiple inputs → switcher → HDFury Arcana that then splits to Sonos Arc and an older projector. My question is - does the HDMI switcher need to be anything special (does it have to have Dolby Atmos passthrough) or can a normal switcher + Archana work? Thanks in advance!
I have been using it since September with my Arcana and it has been working great so far. The auto switching feature doesn’t work, but I have programmed my Harmony remote to switch inputs instead. I have a Roku Ultra, Panasonic UHD player, and Apple TV 4K connected to the switch and I get Dolby Atmos audio from all three devices.
It has a fantastic feature that allows you to set Dolby audio as bitstream and DTS audio as PCM separately which works great with the Arc since Sonos doesn’t support DTS audio but the Arc now supports multichannel PCM.
