I have just bought a Sonos Beam.  I do not own a mobile phone so I borrowed one to set up. Sonos informed me that once set up using the app on the mobile phone, I would then be able to control the speaker using the S2 app on my Windows Laptop. However, although I can use the Laptop app to control volume, any attempt to change  EQ settings i ineffective - the slider controls revert to preset positions.

Try my app (see profile) in the Store, it has EQ support, and a few other features that Sonos crippled in their desktop controllers.

Just downloaded Phonos Universal but cannot see EQ controls

Click on the music icon on the taskbar, when volume shows up hit the Tunes icon to the right of the + sign. Sorry, I am graphically challenged so I have to use pre-existing icons. (I also note I should add some tooltips)
