Sibilance issue with Sonos Arc

Hello all,

I recently added the Sonos Arc to go with the Sonos One SLs and Sonos Sub, and while I’m happy with how the bass sounds, I’ve noticed a heavy amount of sibilance with “ess” sounds from the Arc that I am unable to correct.  I’ve run Trueplay numerous times, turned Trueplay on and off, and adjusted EQ with no success.  Loudness is off and turning it on makes no difference. Is this a common problem with the Arc and are there any suggestions on how to correct this?

Here is a thread with users who have experienced the same issue:

I suggest using a different model iOS device and redo Trueplay tuning.

I’ve also tired using Trueplay with my old iPhone 6 a few times with no success.  I originally ran calibrations with an iPhone 12 pro.  From what I’ve read, the sibilance issued started being reported after a firmware update, so I was curious if Sonos was working on this issue since there was no clear indication that Sonos fixed it in the referenced thread.

I borrowed a few other iphones from friends and was unable to fix the issue so sadly I will be returning the Arc.  Will revisit if Sonos fixes the sibilance issue with a future update.

There are perhaps some additional things to consider/try (in general) suggested in this YT video here:
