Setting up with old Toshiba Tv

So I bought a beam. Lovely piece of kit and it’s playing music nicely.

Problem is getting my TV set up... My TV is about 10 years old (Toshiba 37x3030d). It has a digital out but doesn’t seem to work for the HDMI inputs, only its internal digital tuner.

I have a BT YouView box, Apple TV and PS4 and was hoping to just take the audio output from the TV so all three of them would work with the Beam with minimal hassle... However the only way I can get it to work is to hook the Beam directly to the component, I.e. hook it up directly to the BT box, etc.

The simple solution is to buy a new TV 😃 but is there anything else I can try??

The manual does say "DTV only" for optical out, so that isnt going to help. You could run the HDMI signals through a switch that has optical output, and use that instead.
