Samsung QLED One Remote won't change volume on Sonos Playbar

First, I've tried the workaround suggested in the article linked below. Seems that enables the IR of the Samsung One Connect Box, NOT the actual One Remote. My One Connect Box is in a cabinet out of range from the Playbar, so I need the actual One Remote to fire the IR to control the Playbar. Does anyone have a workaround here? Seems crazy there isn't a solution in place for this already. Thanks in advance.

My only thought would be the Harmony Ultimate Hub.

Michael, you are right. Everywhere (sonos site) seems that you can enable IR from samsung one remote and it's not true. You enable connect box sending out IR. I think I will buy something like this: https://www.amazon.it/Ripetitore-telecomando-Pootack-lamplificatore-satellitare/dp/B01HZELHT6/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1515583594&sr=8-3&keywords=ir+blaster
I didn't find any other solution.

You’ll need to get a wireless IR repeater setup (Sharon makes one) to repeat the IR from inside your cabinet to the Playbar.

Hey Michael,

I just installed my new QE55Q7F and nearly destroyed it because I got so angry about that freaking remote not working. I did everything the way it was described in the articel you linked but whenever I tried to setup the remote in the sonos app, it would not react when pressing the volume button. Leading me to think the IR is not working as described.

In a desperate attempt I went into the Sound Setting of the TV itself (Setting --> Sound) and switch the sound-output to optical and bam! it worked. Don't ask me why though 😛 I didn't even have to set it up in the sonos App. The steps in the guide you linked are still necessary.

Hope this helps! If not I can try and do everything from scratch and make a short step by step guide.

Nope.

Not for me.

Every function on the Samsung One remote works EXCEPT for the volume control. If you are using a Playbase or a Playbar you MUST have the Sound setting on the TV set to optical out, otherwise there's no point in having the Sonos speaker.

The problem remains the Samsung One Connect box. It's a very elegant solution for keeping all the cabling spaghetti away from the back of the TV but having it seems that Samsung wants to lock you into buying its own soundbars.

Luckily the "old fashioned" multi-button remote control does the job properly.

It's from before they moved their FAQs to a new server. Here's the new link:
