Suddenly my Playbar connected via optical will not play TV audio. It’s not the optical cable. I’ve had this happen before and I was able to fix it but I can’t remember what I did. I have a LG tv. Any thoughts much appreciated. 

I suspect an update to either your TV, or to a device that connects to your TV updated its settings. Go back in and set them to Dolby Digital as a maximum, and the data should come back across the optical output.
