I have a playbar with optical out only port only. How do I connect this to an old projector that only has HDMI ports?

The HDMI switchers I see don’t seem to have optical ports?

Yes, mostly. You’ll need to make sure the settings on whatever is feeding that switch is maxed out at Dolby Digital, as that’s the max that the bandwidth on optical can handle. Anything higher requires ARC or eARC.

Edit: and the PLAYBAR is maxed at Dolby Digital, too.

Most HDMI switches that I find on Amazon seem to have an optical output, I’d assume your local electronics store would also have them. Make sure you search for HDMI switch optical output when looking.

Thanks for your reply.

So this type of switch will work:

Kinivo HDMI Switch with Audio Extractor 360BNT (3 in one out, Toslink Optical Audio Port, SPDIF, 4K 60Hz, High Speed 18Gbps, IR Remote)

All I need to do is get a Firestick and the above switch to operate the projector and Playbar together?
