How to control Sonos Arc volume when using optical cable

I have a Samsung 80 something inch led TV with a Samsung smart voice remote. Do not have eArc connection on TV. Have used optical adapter and can only control Sonos arc foul e by voice and Sonos app. Cannot get my Samsung one remote to control the Sonos volume. Have gone through Sonos tutorial and still will not control Arc volume e control.  Help!!!! This is driving me nuts.

Perhaps see if this Sonos support document might assist you, but their remotes apparently vary…

If no joy, then perhaps speak to the Samsung support desk to see if the remote you have, has universal remote ‘infrared control’ ability, as an infrared connection is what is needed to control the volume of the Arc when connected to a TV’s Optical port. If all else fails, then perhaps try any infrared remote that has volume/mute buttons.
