How to connect amp (Onkyo) to sonos BEAM using S.PDIF ?

Hello,

I have a TV (The Frame - Samsung) and a Video-projector.
They are connected to a video amp (onkyo 609).

(Multiplie sources like PC, PS5, etc.. are connected to this amp).

I'm thinking of replacing my 5.1 speaker system with several Sonos speakers (Beam + Sonos One SL + Sub).

Questions:

Can I send the sound from my Onkyo amp, to the beam, through the S/PDIF jack? And then, is it the BEAM that synchronizes the Sub and the One SL?

I've read everywhere, but I'm having trouble understanding how to send sound from the amp to the sonos ecosystem !

thanks

The Beam comes with an optical adapter that will happily take your s/pdif connection. The Beam will then chat with the One SL and the Sub directly.

Note that in this configuration, the signal sent to the Sonos  will need to be Dolby Digital, and not Atmos, as the bandwidth available when using optical is restricted.
