Interesting. Love my Sonos, but I'm considering a change.
It looks like some companies are keeping up with the times. Dolby 5.1 is so 1979.... yes, that 's right.... 1979.
"Dolby's use of split surrounds, and the introduction of the 5.1 format on optical prints started in 1979 with Apocalypse Now."

To correct myself, the Atmos and DTSx support doesn't arrive until December on the YSP-5600 model, but still, at least they are on the radar.
Playbar was marketed due to customer demand but I don't still consider sonos a home theater system. Get a dolby atmos system and add a connect for music
I am so dissapointed in Sonos that they still don't offer a DTS update for the Sonos Playbar...
They have said they are not going to all along. Not sure the surprise.
For those that think Atmos is trivial....then why is Apple saying they when they launch TVOS12 (tomorrow) their itunes will be home to the largest collection of Dolby atmos supported videos Anywhere. Clearly you won't be able to use Sonos until they change their thoughts on it.
I don't think anyone has said that Atmos is trivial. However, I do plan on continuing to use my two PLAYBARs with the settings on my Apple TV set to Dolby Digital.
I think it's ridicules that SONOS won't add support for DTS on the playbar. A great percentage of blu-ray movies have English in DTS but not Dolby 5.1. The playbar is marketed as a home theater product but can only play stereo on DTS movies, and not even a separate bass channel for my SONOS sub.
