My AV guy telling me that I should mount the playbar under the TV as it will vibrate on the mantle. I would rather not mount it though. Has anyone experienced the vibration?

Nope, I've seen nothing of the sort. If it did, I probably still wouldn't mount it. Placing some felt feet under the bar would probably help with that, I'd think.
I had my Playbar sitting on a shelf of plexiglass for a couple of years. Never heard it vibrate.
