creating a 3.1 system

I have a Sonos beam , Sonos 1SL and a Sonos 1 set of speakers. I am finding it impossible to create a surround or 3.1 system via the Sonos app. My beam is connected to my TV via optical out and works fine. My 2 Sonos speakers work fine as a stereo pair. How can I do this, or do I have incompatible speakers?

The Beam is a 3.0 system - it is FL, Centre and FR all on its own. You’ll need a sub to get the .1 element. You’ve set up the One and SL as a stereo pair, so you’ve allocated them to a different room. You need to Add Surrounds to the room with your Beam if you want a 5.x system. This may need removing/resetting the Ones from their current settings.

Unpair the ones first.
